Thousands Set for Bundaberg as Record 94 Teams Compete at 2026 Bundaberg Cup

One of Australia’s richest social touch football tournaments, the Bundaberg Cup, returns this weekend with record participation, a strong community focus, and an anticipated boost to the Queensland economy.
Now in its 11th year, the Bundaberg Cup will see a record 94 teams compete across Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 February 2026, following junior development clinics on Friday 6 February for boys and girls aged 7-14 years.
With $15,000 in prize money on offer and junior, senior and mixed divisions taking part, the event continues to attract players from across Queensland while strengthening participation pathways and engagement in regional communities.
Queensland Touch Football CEO Greg Denny said the continued growth of the Bundaberg Cup highlights its role as a key event on the Queensland sporting calendar.
“Reaching 94 teams in our 11th year is a terrific outcome and a reflection of the work being done across the state to grow touch football.
“The Bundaberg Cup continues to grow year on year, with strong increases in our mixed and women’s social divisions showing just how appealing this event is for social and competitive players alike,” Denny said.
Queensland Touch Football Brand Ambassador, Brisbane Broncos Head Coach and former All‑Stars player Scott Prince said the event delivers opportunities for players at every stage of their touch football journey.
“The Bundy Cup has a unique feel – it’s competitive, but it’s also built around mateship and community,” Prince said.
“You see local Bundaberg athletes sharing the field with teams from right across the state, juniors getting quality development opportunities, and social teams enjoying one of the best tournaments of its kind.”
The Bundaberg Cup is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, with the event expected to deliver significant value to the local economy.
Across the weekend, the Bundaberg Cup is expected to attract more than 4,000 attendees and provide an anticipated $700,000 boost to the state’s economy.
The event will tap off from 7:30am local time on Saturday 7th February, featuring local Bundaberg athletes, grassroots teams and representative talent from across Queensland throughout the weekend.
